Review of Kiss Me in Christmas by Debbie Mason

Brief Summary: 

Everyone from the outside looking in believes Chloe O’Connor’s life is perfect. She is the lead actress on a hit show, a beautiful house and friends. However, things aren’t always as they seem. Her life has not been the same since her co-worker tried to kill her when she was impersonating her sister a couple months ago and now the show is killing her character off. Offers aren’t pouring in for her next opportunity as she thought they would be so she decides to return to her small hometown of Christmas, Colorado for her sisters engagement party. Hoping she will be able to convince her sisters beau that she is the O’Connor sister he belongs with she is pleasantly surprised when she is told she will be staying with Easton McBride, her high school crush. Her once high school crush makes it perfectly clear right away that he doesn’t care for her and that she is trouble. My Review: 
I received this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. This is the second story that I have read of Debbie Mason’s so I had an idea before reading this book of what her writing style is like. I really enjoyed this book in the Christmas Colorado series. I think she did a great job of setting the scenes in the book both in LA and Colorado. In addition, I think she did a great job of giving you more back story on the main characters even though you had met them in the previous book as it made them really developed. It was very interesting to see her build their relationship from the start to finish and really show how life since high school can really change individuals.

I would say the part that I found the most interesting in the whole book and something that you don’t always see in romance books is the story spent on Chloe and Cat as sisters. Most romance authors don’t really touch on those side stories as much as the main story. I think that it was important and very helpful for her to do this as I think it definitely added to the story. I also really liked that she wrote more of Grayson and Cat’s love story from the last book.

I really don’t have any negative comments about the book as I though it was well written and really enjoyed the love story she wrote about Chloe and Easton. I think she made it really realistic and true to what would happen in real life. I am excited to see what she has in story for Jill and Sawyers story.

Review of My Kind of Wonderful by Jill Shalvis

Brief Summary: 

Bailey Moore has lived almost her whole life being sick so when she finally goes into remission she decides that she wants to start checking things off her bucket list. After viewing an ad for creating a mural at a near by resort she jumps at the opportunity to check one item off her list. However, after meeting the person who posted the ad she realizes that maybe she bit off more than she can handle and find love the at the same time.

Hudson Kincaid has always been the strong, level headed no nonsense person in his family. However, when Bailey Moore shows up that all goes out the door. Unsure of what to do with these new feelings he separates himself from her and the situation. However, he isn't able to stay away long with his families help and Bailey lack of experience. Can Hudson keep their relationship strictly professional or will he end up opening up more to her than even his own mother and siblings. 


My Review:

I am huge fan of Jill Shalvis' book so when I saw this book available on Netgalley I jumped at the chance to read the next book in this series. This is the second book in the Cedar Ridge series and tells the story of one of the Kincaid brothers that was introduced in the first book. I think Jill does a great job of really developing the characters and giving you a back story on them so you can understand them better. In addition, I find that she really picks the backdrop and setting of the books very well that it almost seems like not fiction but real life.

One of my favorite aspects of Jill's books are the humor that she throws in as well as the deep feelings. Below are two of my favorite quotes:

"So when you're holed up with her in your suite or your office, you're what, just checking each other for ticks. Because the couple who fights off Lyme disease stays together? Is that it?"

"The thought of you leaving and staying away made me want to drop to my knees," he said. "Hows that for someone who doesn't care? Its been three days, twelve hours and six minutes without you." She blinked. "You kept track of the minutes?" "No, I made that part up," he said. "I was trying the to load the evidence in my favor." Aidan snickered. "Rookie." "Shh," Lily said. "He's being romantic."

If you love humor, romance and drama, then Jill Shalvis is the right author for you. Can't wait to read the next book in this series. Best part is she has more series to read as well!

Review of a Girls Guide to Moving on by Debbie Macomber

Brief Summary

Nichole always thought she had the perfect life. A loving husband, a nice home and a beautiful son. However, in one instant her whole marriage feels like a fraud when her mother-in-law tells her that her husband Jake has been cheating on her and now has gotten a girl pregnant. Having trusted her mother in law Leanne and truly loving her as if she was her mother she confronts her husband and finds out that it is true. Rather than stay in the marriage and hope that it doesn't happen again she files for divorce from her husband and with her mother in law right beside her starts a new life with her son.

Leanne has only been with one man for most of her adult life so when she decides to divorce her cheating husband of 34 years she finds herself happy and excited. However, what she doesn't expect is to catch the eye of a handsome Ukrainian immigrant.

Will Leanne and Nichole be able to move on with their lives or will the past continue to inhibit them from experiencing the future.

My Review:

I received this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. This was not my first Debbie Macomber book but it was the first one that I have read in this series. I am not usually a huge fan of books that tackle the issue of infidelity, however, I think the author did a great job of tackling it and its affects on the family.

Debbie does a great job of really developing the main two characters and the supporting characters. In addition, I think that the setting she chose fit very well. One aspect of the book that I think Debbie did a great job of digging more into was the relationship between Nichole's son and her new love and her ex. It was very interesting to see how she handled the realities of divorce.

I think of the best parts in the books was actually towards the end of the book. I won't go into what occurred so that I don't spoil the book for any readers. I think that she really made the story become full circle.

I think this is a great book and am very interested to read the first book in this series.

Review of Snowflake Bay by Donna Kauffman

 Brief Summary:

Blueberry Cove has always had a special place in Fiona McCrae's heart as it will always be her hometown. But when she graduated from college she dreamed of something more. So she started her own shop in Manhattan serving high end clients and living the life that she always thought she wanted. However, her goals change and she decides to move home. The last thing she thought she would see again was Ben Campbell, her childhood crush. Will Fi be able to ignore and not pay attention to the boy that she felt she loved so many years ago or will her heart take her somewhere different. 

The last time Ben Campbell saw Fi she was just a high school girl who was the kid sister to his best buddy. But fast forward an now she is a bombshell that he can't take his eyes off. Problem is now she wants nothing to do with him. Will Ben be able to have Fi see him as more than the immature high school boy who wasn't always nice to her and called her nicknames? 

My Review:

I received this book courtesy of Netgalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. This is the second book that I have read of Donna's and the second book in the The Brides of Blueberry Cove series. Donna did a great job of setting the plot by having a great set of characters that were well developed and written very well. In addition, she did a great job setting the scene so that you really felt that you were in the small town of Blueberry Cove.

If there were aspects of the book that I thought could have been improved it maybe would have been the pace of the book. It took a little longer than I would have liked to get to start seeing their romantic relationship started. At times in the beginning I felt that she was concentrating more on the story of Fiona then Fiona and Ben. One aspect that I enjoyed was the twist that she threw in there about a family member. I think this was a great way to see the emotional aspect of Ben and Fiona's relationship really develop and grow.

All in all I thought this was a good book and I will definitely read more in this series especially Kerry's story from what we learned in this book about her. I would recommend this book to romance and fiction readers.

Review of One Christmas Wish by Sarah Richardson

Brief Summary:

It is the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas! However, christmas is one of many things that Julia Noble is celebrating this year. Her brother is marrying his best friend and love of his life and she will be heading on to the next stage of her life after the wedding. She hopes that once she is out of reach of her over protecting brother and her mother trying to marry her off she will be able to start living her life.  That is until her high school crush Isaac Nash rolls back in to town. Will she be able to stay friends with him or will all her feelings come rushing back?

Isaac Nash is back home to attend the wedding of his best friend Ben. One person he did not think that he would run into was Ben's little sister Julia. However, Julia is not little anymore. She is drop dead gorgeous woman. Isaac is not determined now to not only grab her attention well he is here but also her heart. But will he be able to get over the fact that the accident that happened so long ago he might have indirectly part of? Can he convince her that she will not be a nuisance to him but rather a gift?

My Review:

I received this book from Netgally and the publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. This is the second book that I have read of Sarah Richardson's and so far this is my favorite book. Sarah does a great job of developing the characters and making them very realistic. She was able to also do a great job of setting the scene as well. I really felt that I knew the characters back story and understood their actions.

In addition, what really connected me to this book over the other one was how deep she went with Julia's story. She did a great job of describing how a person who has to be confined to a wheel chair feels.

Lastly, my favorite part of this book was how she showed how their romance developed from when they were little kids to adults. She showed how it started out as friendship and developed into something more.

Review of Every Little Kiss by Kim Amos

Brief Summary:

Career driven finance extradionare Casey Tanner moved to the small town of White Pines in hope of growing her relationship with her sister Audrey and to enjoy life. So when gorgeous firefighter Abe Cameron gets stuck in an elevator with her at her new job she finds that he might be the perfect man to take on her small specific to do list that has a deadline of Christmas. Will she be able to keep their relationship platonic or will she open her heart up again and risk getting hurt again?

Abe Cameron is your average home town boy firefighter who could have any women in the small town of White pines that he wants. However, Casey Tanner he soon realizes is more than just good looks. So when she propositions him to help her complete her to do list he graciously excepts. Can Abe keep their relationship adventurous and loose or will he start falling for Casey?

My Review:

I received this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. This is the first book that I have read in both the White Pines series as well as by this author Kim Amos. After the cover grabbed my attention I dove right into the book not sure what I would find. I found that she did a great job of developing the main characters as well as setting the scene. As a reader I found that in addition to having the developed characters she did a great job of setting the scene as well. She really made you feel like you grew up alongside Casey Tanner and that you were going through the same difficulties that she was going through in life.

Another aspect of the story that Kim threw in there was the story of Carter who was one of the Robot Lit students. It was something totally different then the main story but it allowed the material to be a little more deep than just a contemporary romance that is out there. In addition, it added a deeper emotional aspect to the characters that you might have not seen if it was just a contemporary romance.

If there was an aspect that I would change about the story after completing it would be to see their relationship develop a little more between Casey and Abe. At times in the beginning as a reader you felt like she rushed the relationship. However, after you get half way through the story you are able to see their connecton more and their relationship grow.

I think this was a great first book to read in the White Pines series and I am definitely interested in reading more by the author. I am interested to see where she goes with some of the supporting character roles.
