Love is always in season . . .

Florist Ivy Birch fantasizes about the day a man will surprise her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Especially if that man happens to be Brett Hastings. One stolen kiss at her best friend's wedding and Ivy can't get the sexy ER doctor out of her head.

In the small town of Briar Creek, you can't avoid anyone for very long. Not that Brett has been trying to avoid Ivy. He just can't afford to let anything distract him from his work-not again. So when a hospital fundraiser throws them together, love is the last thing on his mind. But with her quick wit and sweet laugh, soon the one woman he's tried to keep at arm's length is capturing his heart...

Excerpt:

A small gasp escaped from her but was quickly silenced by the firm press of Brett’s mouth on hers. Unlike their last kiss, which had felt so tender, this time Brett was leaving no room for confusion about his intentions. She stiffened against his touch, trying to resist him, but pleasure pooled warm in her stomach and the space between her legs began to ache as he wrapped two arms around her waist and pulled her to his chest.
Oh, God. She wanted to fight this. The feeling he was stirring within her. The need for more. She opened her mouth to him, letting him in. He kissed her deeply, not giving her a chance to break away, and she wasn’t so sure she could, even if she wanted to. Her hands, which had been pushed off her hips by the strength of his arms, hung loosely at her sides, as if determined to stay out of this drama she was creating for herself, but, like her mouth, they lost the fight. She slid her hands up onto Brett’s arms, taking in every curve of his hard muscles, and up onto his shoulders as she leaned into him. His breath was heavy as he kissed her harder, and she parted her legs to let his slide between and press against the tightness that was building within her.
“What are we doing?” she asked when they finally came apart. She blinked up at him and resisted the urge to flatten his disheveled locks. I did that, she realized with a flutter.
“I don’t really know.” Brett’s voice was low and coarse. “But I like it.”
She firmed her mouth and smoothed her dress. Not good enough.
Turning to stare at the folding table, she felt her spirits begin to sag. She’d let him in again. Let him take her to places she’d wanted, to dream dreams that should have stayed in her unconscious. And nothing had changed. Men don’t change, Ivy. That’s what her mother had always said. When would she learn?
“Well, it can’t happen again,” she insisted.
“Oh no?”
She glanced back to see that slow, sexy smile. “No.” But even as she said it, her body was saying yes.

Review of The Billionaire Bachelor by Jessica Lemmon

Brief Summary:

The most eligible bachelor and well known playboy Reese Crane is facing a roadblock on his road to becoming the CEO of Crane hotel. Unlike most problems he can not buy his way out of this one as the board of directors threatens to pass him up for CEO. The only thing that would convince them differently is if he settles down and find a wife. With limited time to spare before his dad retires Reese has to ask the one woman who just may turn his proposal down.

Merina Van Heusen will do anything to keep her parents hotel in the family, even if it means accepting a marriage proposal from the most arrogant, self absorbed bachelor in town. All she needs to do is marry him, stay married for six months, and keep their contract they arranged a secret. To Merina the plan doesn't seem too complicated if it means keeping the hotel. However, sparks start to fly between them and now their relationship may not be strictly professional anymore.

My Review:

I received this copy from Netgalley and the Publisher, Forever in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. This is the third book of Jessica's that I have read and the first book in the Billionaire Bad Boys series. Jessica does a great job of presenting her readers with well developed and thought out characters. She gives you enough back story on them in the beginning of the book and through out the story so that you can understand why the characters act the way that they do. In addition to having well developed characters, Jessica also sets the scene well to match the story that she is writing for instance, she does a good job of describing the differences between Reese's, Crane Hotel and Merina's Van Heusen hotel. As a reader you really feel like you are experiencing this hotel as the characters are.

In addition to well developed characters and setting a great scene, Jessica also throws in a bit of humor and heartbreak at the right places in the book.l I think having both of those items made this book more than just a romance book. It was a book full of drama, romance and comedy all intertwined into one.

I can't wait to read the next story in this series.

Review of The Fruitcake Challenge by Carrie Fancett Pagels

Brief Summary:

Jo Christy has always dreamed of leaving her fathers lumber camp and starting a life somewhere new.  However, things change when her dad needs her to stay in the camp and work as the cook. Life moves slow and boring in the camp until a handsome lumberjack by the name of Tom arrives and catches her eye. Jo tries to ignore him but is unable to especially when he tells the whole camp he will marry her if she makes him the fruitcake like his mom used to. Will Jo be able to make the fruitcake like his mom and bring him down a couple notches or will she find that there is more behind his tough, handsome exterior?

Tom Jeffries arrives at the Lumber Camp expecting to work hard and make money to send home to his mother. What he doesn't expect to see is a beautiful woman as the camp cook. Now he has more than one goal, make money for his family back home and capture the heart of the camp, cook Jo Christy.

My Review:

This is the first book that I have read in the Christy Lumber Camp series and also the first that I have read of Carrie Fancett Pagels. I think that Carrie did a great job developing the characters and setting the scene in this book, especially being that the story was only less than 200 pages long. In addition to developing the characters and setting the scene I enjoyed how she incorporated romance and humor into the story.

If there was one thing that I would maybe suggest changing or re-thinking it would be the cover of this book. I found that if I had saw this in the bookstore it may have misled me to this was more centered around christmas.

I think this is a great read for readers who are looking for a short, light hearted romance. I would defiantly recommend it to readers who enjoy christian fiction as well. It is definitely a book that can be read in one day or just sitting on the beach somewhere. I am very interested in reading more in this series to see whose story she will be writing next.
